What is PBIS?

​

PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) is a school-wide approach to discipline and a process for creating safer and more effective schools. Part of PBIS is collecting data and creating research based, school-wide, and classroom discipline systems. With PBIS, instructional time is more effectively used for teaching and the overall school environment is calm and conducive to learning. For more information click here!

What Happens when Students S.O.A.R. at PS 86?

 

When students S.O.A.R., teachers are able to teach in an environment conducive to teaching and students are able to learn in an environment that is comfortable and safe.

 

Students can also earn rewards!

  • S.O.A.R. tickets to use at the S.O.A.R. store for rewards 

  • A chance for "Eagle Eyes" to be on a classroom door for being the class to earn the most tickets

  • A chance to have "Eagle on an Easel" visit the classroom for a week and more...
